CATCH App
Definition – The CATCH App is a free to use database for the control and management of the efforts to control the spread of the Asian Hornet. It has been developed by Asian Hornet Alert, an independent group of volunteers who work collectively and collaboratively with all relevant partners with the aim to eradicate, if possible, or slow the rate of spread and establish long term management methods for the control of the Asian Hornet (Vespa Velutina) within the UK
Scope – The CATCH App has been designed as a tool for use at a National, Regional and Local level. It provides visibility across regions, to minimise the administrative load and facilitate greater cooperation, easier communication, and involvement by all with a common cause. It is a 100% volunteer based system.
Visibility – All volunteers have the option to register and be listed on the CATCH App without disclosure of their contact details (email account). In this case, their contact details will only be accessible to high level users (System Administrators and above). Where a volunteer registers with their username as their email account this will be visible to all.
Privacy – In all cases, any contact details obtained through CATCH MUST be held in confidence, and only be used in connection with the aims of this group, vis-à-vis to combat the Asian Hornet.
Volunteers – All volunteers will in the first instance be classified as “Watchers” their role being defined in the Usage and Best Practice Document. Volunteers can apply to extend their roles, e.g. to monitoring for AH, trapping or helping to track and trace. Should they choose to do so, once approved, they will be deemed to be a member of Asian Hornet Alert and should comply with the Group’s Constitution and Rules. Note – no membership fee or other financial obligations accrue to membership. This membership, and hence the roles, can be revoked by the volunteer or AHA administrator at any time without notice.
Personal and Non-Commercial Use: This website is for your personal, non-commercial use. Subject to the “Copyright” clause you may download and copy information on this website for your own personal use.
Unlawful and Prohibited Use: You warrant that you will not use either this website or the CATCH App for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by the terms, conditions or notices contained in both.
Prohibited Activities: When communicating in any form, be it derived from or in the name of Asian Hornet Alert or the CATCH App you agree that you will not:
Post or otherwise transmit any communication or material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, invasive or another’s privacy, disruptive to the site, hateful, or racially, ethically or otherwise objectionable;
Forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any communication transmitted through the website;
Upload, post or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail”, “spam”, “chain letters”, “pyramid schemes” or any other form of solicitation except as otherwise expressly authorised by Asian Hornet Alert
Disrupt or interfere with the operation of the website or any servers or networks connected to the website service:
Violate any applicable local, national or international law;
Collect or store personal data about other users.
Access: Asian Hornet Alert reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny any user access to this website (or CATCH App) or any portion of the site without notice.
Indemnity: You agree to indemnify and hold Asian Hornet Alert harmless from any and all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) which arise out of, are connected with or directly relate to your wrongful or unlawful use of this website or any breach of any representation or warranty made by you in this Agreement.
Use of Information: Asian Hornet Alert may monitor your use of this website. It may use and disclose any information and material received from you, or collected through your use of the site, for any lawful reason or purpose. Please refer to the Asian Hornet Alert Privacy Policy.
Use of Messages: By posting messages, pictures or other content to the Asian Hornet Alert or Catch App websites, you grant to Asian Hornet Alert a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, download, copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, transmit, transfer, sell, license, display, perform, adapt and otherwise exploit such communication in all media now known or hereafter devised. You waive all rights to any claim against the webmaster and Asian Hornet Alert for any alleged or actual infringement of any proprietary, privacy, moral or attribution rights in connection with such communication.
